MSGI WINS HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CONTRACT
Tampa, Florida – MSGI has been selected as one the companies to provide services to countries in Latin America to the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) based at US Southern Command.
MSGI has wide-ranging internal corporate and partner reach-back capabilities with extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Preparedness – Assessment, Logistics and Training (HA/DP-ALT) as well as functioning in Latin America and the Caribbean
The focus of the USSOUTHCOM, HA Division is to support Disaster Preparedness and Humanitarian Assistance Activities in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) regions. This support not only promotes capacity building among the nations of the Southern Hemisphere, but complements any national development projects in support of the population. Additionally, it fosters trusted partnerships among the disaster response and humanitarian assistance communities as well as fostering improved bi-lateral relationships between these countries and the United States.
Throughout the Southern Hemisphere, there is the need to develop, implement and sustain shared comprehensive disaster management strategies and programs. The intent of these is to reduce natural, man-made hazards and vulnerabilities to the populations of the region. As these are reduced, restoration of normal levels of consumption, income and normality will occur, and thus stimulate economies and communities for continued economic growth of these nations. It strengthens the readiness of civil and military organizations through traditional and non-traditional educational programs. Moreover, it helps to promote the establishment of new programs within local, regional and national plans through a continuous process of building partnerships, sharing of information and working together to support a better response mechanism through the development of policies and programs. These policies and programs serve to promote a greater awareness among all sectors of the population in the countries served by USSOUTHCOM.
